Did you have some questions? Here are some answers..
What does sleep training help with?
1) Night wakings
2) To get your little one to sleep in their own bed / cot & room
3) To overcome night feeds
4) Early risings of 4am or 5am
5) Procrastination at bed & nap times (of sometimes over an hour)
6) To get two of more siblings to sleep in the same room
7) To overcome the dummy / pacifier
Sleep Training will teach your little one this self settling skill so he/she will be able to fall asleep by him/herself again if he/she wakes up at night or during a nap and connect various sleep cycles.
After sleep training, you will literally be able to put your child in their cot/bed, kiss him/her good night and walk out the room until the next morning when they are awake again so the whole family can enjoy peaceful nights.
Do you offer the cry it out method?
No, the cry it out method is normally not advised by sleep trainers; it is where you leave your child to cry and do not respond to it at all.
There are various sleep training methods. Depending on your child's sleep & personality analysis, I will suggest the most appropriate one but ultimately you will need to choose and feel comfortable with it.
Yes, there will be a bit of crying as there is a change / new ways but I can guarantee you that you will be taught how to be there for your little one and respond in an appropriate manner.
At what age can you start with sleep training?
Sleep Shaping / Laying down Sleep Foundations can be done from the newborn stage.
Sleep Training can be done from 4 months up to 7 years old.
The 6 month and 1 year sleep regressions are tough but the 2 & 3 year sleep regressions are definitely the most challenging (when they can climb out of their cot/bed, walk & talk).
The longer you wait, the more challenging it becomes.
If the child has not learnt how to self-settle yet, you can wait a long time for your peaceful nights.
Do you offer in-house visits?
Sleep Training is very personalized and something new to your child.
Your child feels the most comfortable around their parents which is why it is important that I teach you, as the parent, so you can teach your own child on how to self settle.
I will equip you with all the knowledge, be guiding and supporting you through the entire sleep training so you know how to respond to your child in an appropriate way and handle any upcoming milestones, illness etc in the future on your own.
Can I share my sleep training method with other parents?
No, unfortunately not because there is an in-depth analysis about each child when you do sleep training.
Every child is different as they all have their own personality so what has worked for your child might not work for another but actually create other issues if the wrong approach is used.
Does Sleep Training really work or would I need to sleep train various times?
My sleep training methods have been tried and tested on various families of all children’s ages before. If you follow the course and are consistent in the implementation, then you will see significant improvements in your little one's sleep.
When you do a sleep training course with me, I will teach you on how to keep your child’s sleep on track if there is a new milestone, change of life event such a house move / new daycare or if they fall sick etc.
If you do still want extra support once the training is completed, then there are always options for troubleshooting, Top-Up Calls and Top-Up 1:1 Support Packages.
Should Sleep Training be done with both parents?
Yes, it is advised that both parents should do the sleep training course so that you can be consistent with your approach and bedtime can be done with either parent.
What is the difference in the Do-It-Yourself online course and the 1:1 Support Packages?
I am offering Online Do-It-Yourself-Sleep Training Workshops & Courses as well as 1:1 Sleep Training Support Packages to suit all kinds of budgets, urgencies of sleep help, pace and style of learning.
The Online Do-It-Yourself-Sleep Training Workshops & Courses (ages 4 months to 4 years) is where you can go through all the theory by yourself in your own time and try out ways on your own.
The 1:1 Sleep Training Support Packages (ages 4 months to 7 years) with me, as the Certified Sleep Coach, is where I will be guiding & supporting you, pin-pointing every sleep issue and suggesting solutions to any hiccups right there and then.
How long can sleep training take?
With most children you can see a change in the first 3 nights already; naps do take longer though. Generally speaking it takes around 2 weeks for your baby to fully adapt to the new routine and plan. In saying this, every baby is different and the times can vary.
I am based in Cape Town/South Africa but I am originally from Zug/Switzerland and can therefore speak English and German.
The sleep training is done via zoom meetings online and daily support messages so I can help you wherever you are in the world. I have sleep trained various families in the UK & SA already; please read some of my testimonials.
My packages range from 1:1 sleep support packages to Do-It-Yourself courses.
There are various sleep training methods available (all depending on your child’s personality and your family’s lifestyle; the choice of sleep training method is yours as you need to feel comfortable with it). Once that is decided on, I coach you, as the parents / care givers, and provide you with the support & guidelines on how to teach your own child to fall asleep independently.
